TROPICAL OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening

Cream together until fluffy. Beat in:

1 egg
1 can (8 1/2 oz.) or 1 c. crushed pineapple

Add:

1 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Drop by heaping teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven until golden brown 15 minutes.
