CHERRY-COCONUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, divided
3 tbsp. sifted powdered sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. drained & chopped maraschino cherries
3/4 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter in medium bowl. Gradually add 1 cup flour and powdered sugar, beating well. Press evenly into a lightly greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until it is lightly browned. Beat eggs in a medium bowl until foamy. Add 3/4 cup sugar, the remaining flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla, coconut, cherries and pecans; mix well. Spread evenly over baked pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool completely in pan. Cut into bars.
