CHERRY COCONUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
1 c. flour
2 eggs, beaten slightly
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. quartered maraschino cherries

Mix butter, powdered sugar, and 1 cup flour until smooth. Spread in 8 x 8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Mix eggs, sugar, 1/4 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Add vanilla, nuts, coconut, and cherries. Spread on baked pastry. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 18. (For Christmas, use both red and green cherries.)
