SOFT CREAM FROSTING 
3 tbsp. flour
3/4 c. milk
1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook flour and milk together like a white sauce in top of double boiler. When thickened, set aside to cool. Cream together shortening, butter, sugar, salt and vanilla. Mix well.

Slowly beat in cooled white sauce. Continue beating until well blended, like a bowl of whipped cream. Makes enough to frost a 9 inch (two layer) cake.
