ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR CHOCOLATE
CAKE
 
3 1/2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs (beaten)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar

Place cocoa in large bowl; stir in water until dissolved. Add butter and shortening; stir until melted. Combine soda, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla in small bowl. Sift flour and sugar together; add to cocoa mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, mixing well after each addition. Pour in 10 x 15 inch pan or in 2 layer cake pans. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool.
