OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL COOKIES | |
1 c. light or dark raisins 1 c. water 3/4 c. shortening 1 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. baking soda 2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 2 c. rolled oats 1/2 c. nuts Mix raisins and water; simmer 20 to 30 minutes, then cool. Add baking soda to mixture and set aside. Combine shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nuts and rolled oats. Then add cooled raisins to mixture last. Drop by spoonful on lightly floured baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 to 15 minutes. |
