If you're adding bananas, raisins, crans or honey -- you're adding sugar!

I'm off bad sugar - So instead of the raisins, I added pitted dates and 2 mashed up bananas. I didn't use nuts, didn't have any. I added a pinch of salt, and instead of veggie oil, I used grapeseed oil. I added the cinnamon, but put nutmeg and a bit of anis to taste. I also added a pinch of baking soda. The result, pretty awesome cookie! :)

I just made this for my boyfriend who is diabetic. They are obviously kind of bland but the raisins give it a nice touch. He asked me to sprinkle ground cinnamon on top, so it will be even tastier!

I added 3x's the vanilla, doubled the spices except cloves which I did not have plus a dash of pumpkin spice which is a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Instead of apple sauce I used pure honey. They were heavenly, the kids loved them too.

I have become addicted to these cookies. I never seem to get 48 cookies but I suppose i might if I made them smaller and used a teaspoon to drop the mixture onto the cookie sheet. Also, I replace the veg oil with olive. That may sound odd but I find it adds a nice flavor to the final product. But you must like olive oil to do this.

I used this recipe for my Daniel fast and love them!! I left out the eggs and only had cinnamon for spices and they were very tasty! I will definitely continue this recipe for myself and my 9 month old daughter when she's old enough to enjoy them. :-)

I left out the spices except the cinnamon and added 1 tablespoon cocoa for a half batch and 2 packets of Stevia. Reminds me of Texas sheet cake!!

I sauteed the oats in a little brown butter before adding to the flour AND added about 1/4 tsp of salt. The salt made a world of difference!

This is a great recipe for anyone who wants to cut out sugar. I used no added sugar applesauce, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon only, and no nuts. The moist texture is very similar to how muffins were made before they became so rich and cakey. I am going to try baking this batter in muffin tins. My ninety year old mother loved the cookies too.

Great starter recipe. I used crushed cheerios instead of flour, apple pie seasoning instead the individual seasonings listed, added dried cranberries, raisins and chopped hazlenuts. I also used olive oil instead of vegetable oil and agave nectar instead of an artificial sweetner. Cookies are great and so filling. 2 cookies will hold you until lunch.

It is a good basic recipe, although of course, it is a matter of an acquired taste for health reasons (perfect for my desire for sweetness on most days). Here is what I do to make it healthier and more crispy: I add Natural Soya Protein Mince (I buy it in health stores and it doesn't have added sugar or any other additions when it's white (the brown version has some additions) :( this adds protein to the mix. In place of the whole-wheat flour, I add a combination of whole grain buckwheat, spelt "Oat Bran Extra Fine" (my Coat bran extra fine, which looks like breadcrumbs in texture (it is oat bran grounded to a rough flour), I buy in health food stores - it is healthier in composition and improves the cookies texture, I think. Hence, it is my main ingredient in the flour section). I add Ginger powder (I don't have allspice) and fresh grated ginger, Grated carrot (both in place of some of the grated apple (why buy an un-nutritional apple sauce when you can grate 1 apple?), sesame (2 tablespoons), and in place of oats, I use a muesli base (mine contains wholesome barley, oats, rye and spelt flakes with crunchy pumpkin seeds, bought in the supermarket - I can use oats too, they are both healthy), and 3 egg whites. I reduced the quantity of the olive oil (to a 1/4, even less - nothing happened).
