Sugar Free Oatmeal Cookies

I didn't have any raisins or nuts so I admit my review is unfair. The way I did it, they are nicely textured but really bland. I will probably slap two cookies together with some homemade jam to salvage them for school lunches.

These are great, nice to have a cookie that is spicy but not sickly sweet!

I just made a batch of this cookies. I used whole spelt flour and made my own applesauce in the microwave. I changes oil for butter and added some ginger since I didnt have any all spice. They are really tasty cookies. Kind of soft and perfect for any time of the day. Thanks

These are indeed sugar free and thus a tad bland. To them I would double the spices on the next go around. I made them exactly as above listed and they do answer my craving for something sweet while staying with in my January sugar free pledge. My husband however, will probably be eating them with the left over glaze from cinnamon rolls made over the holidays.

These are very good, I left out the raisins and nuts, added chocolate chips and 1/4 cup agave nectar. Very nice.

These cookies are delicious! I wanted low-sugar chocolate chip cookies for my grandchildren. This recipe looked best, so I adapted it by leaving out the spices and raisins and adding a half cup of coconut and 3/4 cup 60% chocolate chips. I had never used agave syrup, but I squirted in a tablespoon (may use more of that next time, too; it's good for diabetics). I baked at 360°F for exactly 10 minutes and they were perfect. They are REALLY good and so easy to make.

Try adding some Stevia to the recipe to 'sweeten' it up a bit! ;)

the sugar is in the applesauce, just so people are aware, it is not an absolutely sugar free recipe. albeit there is somewhat less and healthier sugar in applesauce compared to refined granulated sugar of course. adding chocolate chips will also add sugar but also boost flavor considerably so this is still a good starting point for a lower-sugar cookie. it's just NOT actually sugar free.

Sweetened it up a bit with some Truvia; Also made it a bit healthier by swapping the veg. oil for olive oil. Excellent recipe. I will definitely make these again.

I will make the oatmeal cookies, and if they're not sweet enough I will spread a bit of sugar free preserves, nutella or peanut butter on them. When you have diabetes, you learn to make do. Thanks for the recipe.

Really good if you drizzle a little honey on the top. Without some sort of sweetener it tastes like oatmeal raisin bread in cookie form. I made them so my 2 year old could have a cookie without giving her a bunch of sugar.

I took what other reviews advice and doubled the spices by a couple of dashes, then I went ahead and added 14 packets of sugar calorie free sweetener and chocolate chips a fourth cup (took almost a handful) and I got not exactly a sugar free recipe but way low in sugar than store bought. Remind you that the only sugar in there would be apple sauce even if it's unsweetened and depending how much chocolate chips you put in and the other thing is that you might wanna look for substitutes in order to make it an actual sugar free recipe and the cookies came out really good.

Great recipe.. Sugar substitutes are mostly not good for you.. I do like Stevia (Truvia).. This is a great natural recipe.. Butter > vegetable oil!

I would give these a five star rating but I add Agave syrup or sugar free maple syrup for sweetness. Also, adding a pinch of salt and lemon brings out the other flavors. Agave syrup is natural from the Blue Agave and has a low glycemic index. It is often used by diabetics and those watching calories as it is sweeter than some other products and therefore one need use less. Otherwise this is a great recipe that anyone can tweek to suit their taste and dietary needs. Oh, by the way, if one does not like raisins, currants or chopped figs or dates are a great substitute.

By the way, there are sugar free chocolate morsels (chips) at the local supermarket. All foods turn to sugar in the body for fuel. Unsweetened applesauce has no added sugar. Even onions have a little sugar in them. Of course pineapple, carrots, corn and certain other fruits and veggies have more natural sugars than others.
