BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES 
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into creamed mix. Add walnuts. Spread in greased 8 x 8-inch pan.

Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cut into squares while warm. Leave in pan until cooled.
