MAY'S AUTHENTIC SHORTBREAD | |
Since this recipe was handed down from generations to generation in Scotland, you will need a scale. This is so easy because you melt the butter. It took me years to finally get the recipe since I was a friend, not family. May has passed and I’m so grateful she trusted me with the recipe. There is none of her family left so I’m sharing this recipe to honor May. Enjoy! 1 lb. (4 sticks) butter, melted 8 oz. sugar (use scale) 4 oz. corn starch (scale) 18 oz. all-purpose flour (scale) Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix sugar and melted butter. Add corn starch and mix well. Add flour and mix well. Press into 13x9-inch pan. Perforate with a fork - you do not want this to rise. Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes or til light brown. Cut immediately into bars. Note: Only four ingredients, so easy and the best shortbread I have ever tasted! Submitted by: Helen Petruska |
