FRENCH TOAST 
4 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
8 slices day old bread
Syrup, honey, jelly or confectioners' sugar

Beat eggs, milk, sugar and salt together in shallow dish. Heat shortening in skillet or on griddle. Dip bread slices one at a time into egg mixture; turn and coat evenly. Fry until lightly brown on one side, turn and brown on the other side. Serve with syrup, honey, jelly or confectioners' sugar. Makes 4 servings.
