FLAN | |
1 c. granulated sugar 1 can evaporated milk 5 eggs 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 tbsp. vanilla Melt (burn) 1 cup granulated sugar in a round metal pan, such as a heavy cake pan, over a very low flame. Mix in blender the following: 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 can evaporated milk, 1 tablespoon vanilla, 5 eggs. When sugar has melted (will be brown like caramel), pour the mixture over it. In a larger frying pan or pot, pour an inch of water. Place the cake pan into the pan of water. (Be careful not to get water in flan mixture.) Boil water over medium heat for 20-30 minutes. (The larger pan should be covered with a lid.) The flan is ready when it is no longer runny and is somewhat firm. Let the flan cool in the refrigerator for two or so hours. Then, carefully turn it over onto a plate so that the caramel is on top. |
