RAW APPLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. raw, chopped or grated apples
3/4 c. chopped nuts
Dash of salt

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with apples. Add nuts and pour into buttered and floured 9x13 inch (or larger) buttered sheet cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Sometimes it takes a little longer, so test with a toothpick to be sure it is done. Serve plain or with whipped topping, warm or cold. Or frost as soon as it comes from the oven with the following glaze.

GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Enough milk to make a thin, runny frosting

Spread it very thin on the hot cake; it will soak in a little and form a thin white glaze. Let cool to serve.
