TWO-TONE COOKIES
6 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. red food coloring
1 egg
1/2 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted (1 oz.)

Cream together butter, sugars, vanilla and food coloring. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Stir in sour cream. Thoroughly stir flour, salt and soda. Mix into creamed mixture gradually. Stir in chopped nuts.

Divide dough in 1/2; stir melted chocolate into 1/2. Drop rounded teaspoons of chocolate dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Drop rounded teaspoons of red dough next to each chocolate mound. They will bake together as one. Lightly press a walnut half onto each cookie. Bake in 375 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes 1 1/2 - 2 dozen.
