TWO-TONE COOKIES | |
6 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/4 c. granulated sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. red food coloring 1 egg 1/2 c. sour cream 1 1/4 c. flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. chopped walnuts 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted (1 oz.) Cream together butter, sugars, vanilla and food coloring. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Stir in sour cream. Thoroughly stir flour, salt and soda. Mix into creamed mixture gradually. Stir in chopped nuts. Divide dough in 1/2; stir melted chocolate into 1/2. Drop rounded teaspoons of chocolate dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Drop rounded teaspoons of red dough next to each chocolate mound. They will bake together as one. Lightly press a walnut half onto each cookie. Bake in 375 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes 1 1/2 - 2 dozen. |
