BUSY LADY'S SWEET PICKLES 
cucumbers
vinegar
4 tbsp. pickling spices
4 tbsp. uniodized salt
4 tbsp. alum
6 c. sugar

Pack cucumbers in gallon glass or plastic jar. Tie pickling spices, salt and alum in piece of cloth and put into jar with cucumbers. Pour white vinegar in jar to cover cucumbers. Place in dark place for 6 weeks and stir once a week. Empty jar after 6 weeks and blot pickles dry on towel. Slice and return to jar. Cover with sugar and let stand until sugar melts. Continue to add sugar until full 6 cups has been added to pickles. Do not cook and no need to seal.
