IRENE'S POUND CAKE | |
1 lb. butter (for best results use BUTTER) 3 1/2 c. sugar 10 eggs 3 c. sifted flour (sift before measure) Juice of 1 lemon 1 tsp. vanilla flavor Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs (all together, or one at a time); beat until fluffy. Add flour (all), mix well before beating. Beat until light fluffy texture is obtained (approximately 5-10 minutes). Add lemon juice and vanilla. Mix well. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Test for doneness using a straw, continue baking as needed. |
