MINESTRONE HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. hamburger
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. diced potatoes
1 c. carrots (sliced)
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1 c. chopped cabbage
2 c. stewed or canned tomatoes
1 1/2 qt. water
1/4 c. rice or barley
1 sm. bay leaf
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 leaf basil
4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

In a large kettle cook and stir hamburger until it loses it's red color. Add rest of ingredients. Cook until vegetables are as tender as you like them.
