APPLE TORTE 
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
8-10 apples
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Blend thoroughly. Add flour which has been sifted with baking powder, salt and vanilla. Spread mixture into a greased and floured 10-inch springform pan.

Pare apples; cut into eighths and stand on end in the mixture until entire mixture is covered with apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in 350 degree oven about 1 1/2 hours.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Beat well and pour over baked torts and bake another 15 minutes or until custard is set.
