NAVY BEANS 
1 c. navy beans
About 6 c. hot water
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. black pepper
2 tbsp. Crisco

Clean and wash beans. Put beans into a 3 quart saucepan. Add water, salt, pepper and shortening. Bring to a boil; then reduce heat to medium. Cover and cook until beans are soft and juice is cooked down and thick.
