MOM'S BREAD PUDDING 
5 slices day-old bread
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. raisins, soaked in water
3 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. vanilla, mixed with eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
3 eggs, beaten

Toast bread and spread with butter while hot. Arrange toast in buttered baking dish (10 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch). Sprinkle with raisins. Add all to eggs and vanilla mixture (save two tablespoons cinnamon and sugar aside) and mix well. Pour over toast and allow to stand for 10 minutes. Press toast often to soak up milk. Mix and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes - or until pointed knife comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.
