SPONGE CAKE 
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
6 eggs, separated
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Sift together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat egg whites until foamy in a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup sugar gradually. Add cream of tartar, beat to stiff peaks.

Combine egg yolks, 1/4 cup water, lemon juice and dry ingredients in small bowl. Beat at medium speed for 4 minutes. Fold egg yolk mixture gently into egg whites. Pour into 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Invert to cool.
