JAPANESE FRUIT CAKE 
1 box white or yellow cake mix
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. mixed candied fruit

FROSTING:

1 c. water
1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
1 tsp. flour
1 orange
1 lemon
Coconut

Prepare cake mix as directed for 3 layers. Before baking, add to 1 layer: 1 cup chopped pecans plus enough red food coloring to make layer red; to another layer, add 1 cup raisins, 1 teaspoon allspice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon cloves; to last layer, add 1/2 cup mixed candies fruit. Bake as directed.

For frosting, combine water, sugar and flour. Cook this until it makes thin syrup. Add the grated rind of 1 orange and 1 lemon plus the juice of each to the syrup. Cook this mixture about 1 minute. Add coconut (as much as you desire) to mixture; remove from fire. Spread between layers and over sides.
