CHERRY KUCHEN 
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg

Put 1 egg in a measuring cup, add enough milk to make 1/2 cup. Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and shortening as for pie dough. Then add egg and milk. Mix, pat dough in a 9 inch square pan. Fill with filling, below.

Mix 1/4 cup cornstarch with sugar. Stir this in 1 quart cherries. Put over low heat, bring to a boil. Turn heat down, cook, stirring constantly, 4 or 5 minutes until mixture is thick and clear. Pour in the pan with dough. Bake 20 minutes 400 degrees. You may use any kind of fruit. The dough cooks up through filling.
