ICE BOX COOKIES (BUTTERSCOTCH) 
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. cream of tartar 3 1/2 - 4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 lb. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. pecans

Cream butter and sugar; add vanilla and beaten egg. Add nuts and flour with cream of tartar and soda. Roll in waxed paper and refrigerate. Do not grease pans.
