RYE BREAD 
1 c. milk
1 glob Crisco
1 tsp. anise seed (opt.)
1 tsp. fennel (opt.)
1 c. cold water
1 c. warm water
2 cakes yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. molasses
2 c. flour (rye)
7 c. white flour (at least)

Scald milk and add Crisco, anise seed and fennel. Add cold water in milk off stove. In a separate bowl mix warm water, yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar. Add 1/2 cup sugar, molasses and flour. Mix with scalded milk and Crisco then add yeast mixture. Knead well. Make loaves and bake at 350 degrees.
