THUNDER CAKE 
1 cup shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco)
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, separated
1 cup cold water
1/3 cup pureed tomatoes
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 cup dry cocoa
1 1/2 tbsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream together shortening, sugar, vanilla, eggs, water and tomatoes.

Sift together cake flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Mix dry into creamy mixture. Pour into two greased and floured 8 1/2-inch round cake pans.

Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes.

Frost with chocolate butter frosting and top with sliced strawberries.
