3 c. flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. butter or lard 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 c. milk 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. currants 1/2 c. golden raisins 1 tsp. caraway seeds (optional) Grease and flour a 9 inch round pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter, add eggs, milk and lastly currants, raisins and caraway seeds if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for at least 50 minutes. Make sure the top cracks. Brush with butter when removed from the oven. Serve cool with butter or currant jelly. |
