HAMBURGER AND SAUSAGE SOUP 
1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey
1 lb. Polish sausage, sliced
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. leaf oregano
1/4 tsp. leaf basil
1 (1 1/2 oz.) envelope dry onion soup mix
6 c. boiling water
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 c. sliced celery
1/4 c. chopped celery leaves
1 c. sliced pared carrots
1/3 c. dried split peas, soaked overnight
1 c. uncooked elbow macaroni
Grated Parmesan cheese

In skillet, brown ground beef and sausage; drain well. Place meats in crock pot and add seasonings, herbs and onion soup mix. Stir in boiling water, tomatoes and soy. Add celery, celery leaves, carrots and split peas. Stir well. Cover pot and cook on low setting for 8 to 16 hours (on high setting 4 to 5 hours).

One hour before serving, turn to high and stir in macaroni. Serve with cheese. Makes 4 to 6 servings (about 3 1/2 quarts).
