GRANDMA'S FAVORITE GINGERBREAD | |
2 1/2 c. plain flour 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. ginger 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1 c. molasses 2 eggs 1 c. hot water Sift together first 5 ingredients and set aside. Cream shortening, sugar and soda. Add molasses. Stir in 1/2 cup of flour mixture then add eggs; beat well. Add remaining flour mixture alternately with hot water. Beat 1 minute at medium speed. Bake in 9 inch square pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes. |
