BUTTER RICHES 
3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 tbsp. sugar
1 unbeaten egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
2 1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
3-4 tbsp. cream

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg yolk and vanilla; beat well. Blend in flour. Shape into balls the size of a marble; place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten to the size of a 50 cent piece with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-9 minutes, until light golden brown. Cool and frost. Garnish with almond slivers.
