DAY-BEFORE CABBAGE SLAW 
1 med. cabbage, finely shredded
1 green pepper, diced
1 med. onion, thinly sliced or 6 fresh green onions, chopped
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. salt

Layer cabbage, pepper and onion in deep bowl; cover with 1 cup sugar. Boil remaining ingredients; pour over salad and refrigerate. Chill for at least 4 hours to blend flavors. Stir lightly before serving.
