GREAT - GRANDMOTHER BRIMMELL'S
VEGETABLE SOUP
 
1/2 - 3/4 lb. beef brisket
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
2-3 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lg. diced onion
4 diced carrots
1 diced stalk celery
1 diced turnip
1 sm. cabbage, shredded
1/4 - 1/2 c. rice

Put meat in large pot, cover with water, let simmer on stove 1 hour. Add the rest of the ingredients except rice. Let simmer 2-3 hours. Add rice. Simmer 20 minutes.
