CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 2/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. water
1 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate bits

Cream butter until fluffy. Add sugar and mix until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; again beat until fluffy. Measure flour and sift with soda and salt. Add to shortening mixture and mix to form a dough. Add semi-sweet chocolate bits. Stir to blend. Drop by spoonful onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
