BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY
8 buttermilk biscuits
3/4 pound of sausage (fatty sausage works best for this)
4 cups of milk
4-8 tablespoons flour

Prepare biscuits as instructed on package. Brown sausage in skillet. As soon as sausage is completely brown, turn to medium heat. Add flour by the tablespoon, stirring constantly. Let the flour turn BROWN before adding another tablespoon (if you don't, your gravy will taste like flour). After you have added enough flour to make the gravy as thick as you like, add milk and stir with whisk.

Serve over biscuits.

I have made this recipe several times now :) its great. They key is adding the flour tablespoon by tablespoon, and being patient when you add your milk at first it seems like way to much milk, but after whisking it for about five minutes it ends up perfect. I tried doing 8 tbsp of flour once... Way way thick I recommend doing about 4 it seems to be perfect. Thanks for this recipe.

Great recipe, the browning of the flour was the trick. Add a little butter, salt & pepper and it's better than cracker barrel. Try the Jiffy biscuit mix and it's the best!

Really great recipe, I tried it this morning. I used 1/2 lb. of sausage, 5 tbsp. flour and 2 cups of milk. Perfect for 2 people. I added quite a bit of salt and black pepper and a spoon of sugar to sweeten it up. I was amazed how good it was.

Wonderful!!! I have made all kinds of broth gravies, but never had a good experience with milk gravies. I added Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasoning to the sausage as it browned. (Around here, we add Tony's to everything) If you are missing flavor, you didn't brown long enough. If it is too thin, keep cooking (and stirring) until it thickens. I'll try the other spices suggested earlier next time.

I had never made biscuits and gravy before, but this turned out great. It's a nice simple recipe. I added a few jalapenio peppers and a small amt. of cayenne pepper to spice it up. Thanks a lot!

Until now I have been using my my ex-mother-in-law's recipe and always ended up with lumpy flour-tasting gravy. This recipe is GREAT! No lumps, perfect consistency and delicious! My daughter said my biscuits and gravy were better than grandma's. :) Thank you so much!
