“EASY APPLE CRISP” IS IN:

EASY APPLE CRISP
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
6 large apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, water and cinnamon in bottom of small baking pan. Slice in apples. Blend remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, salt and butter until crumbly. Spread over apples and pat smooth.

Bake at 375°F. for 40-50 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is browned.

Serve hot with ice cream. This is a good recipe for apple crisp if you don't like the over-sugary oatmeal taste. It's basically a rectangular apple pie.

So happy you posted this recipe. When I was young we would spend our summers in the mountains of NC and back then there weren't electronics to keep us occupied so our moms and grandmothers taught us to cook. My cousin and I were always in charge of the "Apple Crisp" and we had a recipe just like this one. I have been looking for this recipe for many years now - all the ones I found had oatmeal in it and I wanted the original one I was familiar with. This is delicious...thank you, thank you, thank you!

This is is so delicious! I have made it before and the whole family went crazy over it. I have made a second one and it is in the oven now. I doubled the recipe because we are having guests over for dinner. I hope it turns out as good as the last one did!

Thank you for this recipe! It reminds me of one I used to make as a teenager, using a tattered Pillsbury cookbook of my mother's (which I lost). Wonderful recipe, even got compliments from my husband, who isn't a big dessert person.

Delicious! Perfect crust and dreamy filling. My son asked for apple pie for Thanksgiving but I made this instead and he ate about 1/2 of the whole dish, loved it better than any dry pie, & so the whole pan of crisp was gone in one sitting. Now I'm thankful for this recipe! (A new family favorite.)
