OATMEAL RAISIN BREAD | |
2 pkgs. yeast 1/2 c. warm water (combine and let cool) 2 tsp. sugar 1 c. oatmeal 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. shortening 1 c. raisins 2 c. boiling water Combine oatmeal, brown sugar, salt, shortening, raisins and water. Mix and let stand until cool. Then add yeast mixture and flour (about 5 cups or more). Knead and let rise about double. Punch down, let rise, then put in loaf pans and let it rise again. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. |
