5 lbs. cooking apples 1 c. water Wash apples. Remove stems and cut into quarters. Place in pot and add water. Cover. Heat on electric stove at low heat for 2 hours or until tender. Stir after 1 hour. Place apples in sieve and puree. Measure applesauce and put back into pot. To each cup of applesauce add 1/4 cup sugar. Cover and heat on electric stove at low heat for 2 hours. Stir occasionally. Makes 4 1/2 pints. If you don't want it real sweet put less sugar. |
