LIME PICKLE 
7 lbs. or 2 gal. cucumbers, cut thin lengthwise

Place in pan, cold water with 1/2 cup lime added. Soak overnight. Rinse off. Add 1/3 cup salt. Let soak 4 hours. Rinse, cover with water and 4 tablespoons alum. Bring to boil, drain, rinse in hot water. Pour over cucumbers 4 pints vinegar and 7 pounds sugar, spices; bring to boil. Let simmer 1 hour and can.
