Cut up 2 gal. cucumbers Mix 1 cup pickling lime to each gallon. Pour ice water over cucumbers for 24 hours. Wash real well until clear water. Let stand in clear ice water 24 hours. Mix 1 quart sugar and 2 quarts vinegar. (Tie in bag 1 tablespoon pickling spices and cinnamon sticks for each gallon.) Let come to boil (cool). Pour over cucumbers, let stand 24 hours. Drain off vinegar mix and heat, add cucumbers and let come to boil. Pack in jars and seal. Boil in hot water bath 10 minutes. |
