SHOYU (SOY SAUCE) CHICKEN | |
5 lb. box chicken, remove skin and fat SAUCE: 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/4 tsp. Ajinomoto (MSG) - optional 1/4 tsp. Chinese 5 spices powder 2 cloves garlic, chopped 1 slice ginger, about 1 inch thick, chopped 2 corner star anise 1 c. shoyu 1 c. water 1 tbsp. liquor (optional) Mix sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil. Put in chicken and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer until done, 40 minutes or so. Turn chicken over once in a while as it simmers. |
