3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. apple sauce
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves

Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Stir in applesauce. Blend dry ingredients and stir in sugar mixture. Mix in raisins and nuts. Drop dough by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
