POUND CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 1/2 c. Crisco 3 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. lemon (or 2 tsp. vanilla) 3 c. sifted plain flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder Pinch of salt 1 c. sweet milk (half Carnation, half water) 5 eggs Cream butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla and lemon; blend well. Add eggs, one at a time and continue beating after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with milk to batter. Pour into a greased and floured good sized tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. |
