FRUIT AND CRUMB CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. (1/2 lb.) shortening
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 jars thickened fruit (the kind for pies)

Cream above together, take out 1 cup. To cup taken out add 1 tablespoon cinnamon, to remaining mixture. Add 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 3 well beaten eggs. Fill two square pans. On top of batter add 2 jars of any desired thickened fruit. Then spread over remaining cup of crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Cake is done when knife inserted comes out clean.
