1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 beaten egg
3 med. apples
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. nuts

SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sweet cream
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten egg and diced or shredded apples. Sift together dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Stir in nuts. Bake 50-60 minutes at 300 degrees in 9 x 9 inch pan. Serve with hot sauce and a little whipped cream.

Sauce: Heat until ingredients are melted. This is known as "Christmas Dessert" at out house.
