SPECIAL GREEN SALAD 
1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. hot water
1/2 c. sliced or slivered almonds
Mixed greens for 8 servings
1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained
3/4 c. vinaigrette or celery seed or sweet and sour dressing

In skillet, heat sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Add almonds and keep stirring until well coated and lightly browned. Turn out onto waxed paper to cool. May make ahead and store in refrigerator or freezer. Toss greens, oranges, and almonds with dressing.

VINAIGRETTE DRESSING:

2/3 c. salad oil
1/3 c. tarragon vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
Clove garlic, crushed
