LAYERED SALAD | |
1 pkg. fresh spinach 1 head lettuce 1 pkg. frozen peas, do not thaw 1 red onion 1 tsp. salt or less 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. pepper 5 hard-boiled eggs 1 lb. bacon, cooked crisp 1 1/2 lb. Swiss cheese 1 c. salad dressing Wash spinach and lettuce. Drain and dry. Fry bacon and break in small pieces. Boil eggs, cool and cut in slices. Shred cheese if not shredded. Break or cut spinach and lettuce in small pieces. In a baking dish or bowl place a layer of spinach, bacon, eggs, half of Swiss cheese, lettuce, onion, bacon, peas, salad dressing, remainder of Swiss cheese. Between each layer sprinkle a little salt, pepper and sugar. If a deep bowl is used use only half for each layer and repeat. If a glass bowl is used it looks very appetizing. However, a baking dish will make it easier to serve. Place in refrigerator overnight or at least 4 hours before serving. |
