WHITE TAFFY
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
7/8 c. white corn syrup
1/2 tbsp. vinegar

Cook sugar, syrup and vinegar to hard crack stage, 300 degrees. Stir only until sugar dissolves. Pour into oiled plates. When it is cold enough to handle, flavor and pull. When taffy is light colored and porous, stretch it into a rope. Cut off pieces with scissors about 1" long, turn rope half over and cut another piece. Continue turning after each cutting. Place on oiled plate to cool. If taffy is to be kept for a time, wrap each piece in wax paper. Place in tight container. Approximately 75 pieces.
