CREAMY FRENCH ICING 
2 tbsp. water
4 1/2 tbsp. sugar
2 1/3 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
2/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil water and white sugar together for about 1 minute. Mix powdered sugar and egg. Add syrup. Add Crisco and vanilla. Beat until creamy.

We have been making this frosting in my family for probably 40 years or more along with a homemade chocolate cake from scratch. It is the most requested frosting and cake when we have birthdays or family gatherings. One thing we have done with this recipe is split the Crisco in half and used half Crisco and half butter. Generally we will then place it in the frig. for about an hour to let it set before we spread it on top of the cake. Still the best frosting ever!
