I use; 1 can of sliced mushrooms, 1 can of cream of celery, 1 can of cheddar cheese soup, 1/2 sweet onion chopped, one stalk of chopped celery, mix soup with 1 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp parsley, 1 tsp basil, pepper to taste, I coat the bottom of the 9x13 with a thin film of olive oil, and I prefer to use the smaller tater rounds, which are flat and easy to layer. I also like to vary with white and yellow cheddar each layer. also, this is a great recipe for ground turkey or pork sausage or a mix of beef, pork and poultry, pre cooked before adding to casserole. also very good with smoked sausage. This is the casserole that has unlimited possibilities and always satisfies every age and palate.

We don't eat much beef. Moose or caribou burger for us! I used leftover moose taco meat and sweet caribou Italian sausage, cream of celery soup and shredded cheddar. I mixed the cheese and wet and seasoned w some Mrs. Dash salt-free garlic and herb and chopped celery. D E E lish!

I also use Cream of Mushroom, omit the water, add mexican style corn to ours. I mix cheese into the meat, and put a layer before the tots. Before bringing it out of the oven, I put it on broil to make sure the tots get crispy.

Outstandingly easy & tasty recipe. Kids love it and like to help with making it. I have used both cream of chicken and cream of mushroom (tastes great either way).

This is by far the best way to prepare tater tot casserole. I add cream of mushroom soup (and sometimes, chopped green bell peppers) to it though. Taste is phenomenal. My family loves when I make it.

I have a Whole Foods version I served my kids:

1lb ground beef
small yellow onion
365 frozen corn (thawed)
Amy's Organic Cream of Mushroom soup
Spud Puppies (organic tater tots)
Organic cheddar Cheese

If you are gonna do it - at least use good ingredients!

I love this recipe because I can make it according to the taste of my family and it's still a huge hit! If I'm wanting it spicy I just throw in some diced pickled jalapenos and am good to go. I can add as many veggies as I like, usually I stick to green beans and onions but I have added corn as well. The kind of cream of soup you add is to me up to what you have and what you like. I like the idea of a manwich style sauce haven't tried that but think I will. To me this is a no fail make as your family likes kind of recipe that everyone should keep on hand!

I added dry onion soup mix into the meat mixture. Made it taste better than I think it would have with just soup and onions. I need more flavor in my ground beef!
