VEGETABLE SOUP 
2 lg. soup bones
2-3 lb. chuck or beef roast
3 onions, chopped

Put in large kettle and add water to cover and simmer all day. Next day take soup bones out and dice up meat. Add 2 pounds carrots, cut up, 1 bunch celery, cut up, 2 small heads of cabbage, cut up, 8 or 9 potatoes diced up, 1 can tomatoes, 1/2 cup rice or barley. Cook for at least 6-7 hours. Salt and pepper to taste.
